With the first potential significant snowfall on the way, the anticipation for ski and snowboard season is starting to build across Colorado. But before the lifts start turning, it’s the perfect time to focus on conditioning. There are several upcoming training events in Denver designed to help you prepare for the physical demands of the season. Strengthening your body now will ensure you’re ready to take full advantage of everything the mountains have to offer once the snow starts piling up. From preventing injuries to improving endurance, these sessions will help you stay on top of your game all winter long.

Knees for Skis!

Join Dr. Ryan Smith from Savvy Physical Therapy to learn exercises designed to prevent knee injuries this ski and snowboard season. You will learn ways to protect your knees with strengthening and mobility drills from your core to your toes. Resistance bands and exercise videos are provided. Plus, there will be a Q&A at the end where you can ask Dr. Ryan all your burning questions.

About Dr. Ryan Smith, Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT)

Dr. Ryan has been a Physical Therapist in Denver since 2011 and recently won Best Physical Therapy in Denver on Westword’s 2024 Best Of Denver List. With a Bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology from Southern California and a Doctorate of Physical Therapy from Bond University in Queensland, Australia, Dr. Ryan has extensive experience in both inpatient and outpatient settings. His office, The Savvy PT, is conveniently located within Rocky Mountain Flex in Denver’s Baker neighborhood.

Dr. Ryan’s interests lie in orthopedic therapy, pain relief, and body mechanics. He is passionate about helping patients eliminate pain and restore functional movement, focusing on treating injuries and dysfunctions of the joints and muscles. His goal is to promote whole-body mobility, empowering individuals to use their bodies at full capacity for the activities they love.

In addition to his comprehensive physical therapy services, Dr. Ryan also offers specialized conditioning programs designed to prepare athletes for ski and snowboard season. Prepare to elevate your winter sports game with the SNOWSHAPE Winter Fitness Series, a dynamic four-week conditioning program held at the iconic Red Rocks Amphitheater. This series is designed specifically for skiers, snowboarders, and winter sports enthusiasts, this series will prepare you to tackle the mountain.

In each class, participants will engage in a circuit-based fitness routine that utilizes the stairs of Red Rocks, turning them into your personal winter training ground. This program caters to all fitness levels, providing a supportive environment to train alongside fellow snow sports lovers.

Even if you missed the first two sessions, you can still catch the last couple and benefit from the hour long training sessions! Join us for this unique opportunity to enhance your strength, endurance, and agility as you gear up for the 2024-2025 ski and snowboard season. With a focus on functional movements that mimic the demands of winter sports, the SNOWSHAPE Winter Fitness Series is the perfect way to ensure you’re prepared for everything Mother Nature has in store!
