This commitment has allowed us to grow into a one-of-a-kind fitness and training space. In fall 2023, we revamped and expanded the gym, increasing in size to over 12,000 sq. ft. of gym space, adding a brand new classroom, new equipment, and a turf space for functional fitness.
What makes RMFLEX truly special is that we have an awesome community of members who are interested in a wide variety of training such as general weightlifting, Olympic weightlifting, bodybuilding for sport, yoga, sports conditioning, mobility, Muay Thai, Pilates, and more. We have done our best to make RMFLEX inclusive and support all of our members’ training styles and passions.
One feature that sets us apart from other gyms in Denver is our group classroom, which doubles as a posing room for those preparing for bodybuilding competitions. We’ve put a lot of thought into the design of the new updated classroom space, offering a more upscale look that our members love. The classroom has black walls, mirrors, and a variety of lighting, including hex lights, track lighting, and wall lighting to help you get the perfect angles for posing and flexing.
What is a posing room and why is it important for competitors?
A posing room is a dedicated space where athletes can practice posing to perfect the art of showcasing their physique for bodybuilding competitions. This area is usually equipped with mirrors and proper lighting, allowing competitors to practice their mandatory poses and finetune their routines. It’s in this space that bodybuilders turn months of intense training into a polished performance, learning to accentuate their best features while minimizing any weaknesses. At Rocky Mountain Flex, we are happy to provide space to help athletes step onto the stage with confidence, knowing they’ve mastered not just their physique, but also the vital skill of presenting their hard-earned results.

Bodybuilding is a sport where athletes focus on specific training modalities to strengthen, condition, and shape their bodies. Competitions are judged across multiple divisions, each with its own criteria. Here’s a breakdown of some of the key divisions in the sport:
Bodybuilding:
The Bodybuilding division is the original category in the sport. Athletes in this division perform four quarter turns followed by mandatory poses, which include the front double bicep, back double bicep, front lat spread, rear lat spread, side chest, overhead abdominal and thigh, and the most muscular. Competitors are judged on criteria such as balance, symmetry, size, shape, muscularity, conditioning, and overall presentation.
Classic Physique:
Classic Physique draws inspiration from the traditional Bodybuilding division but places more emphasis on the overall symmetry and balance between the upper and lower body. Competitors perform four quarter turns and mandatory poses, including the front double bicep, back double bicep, side chest, overhead abdominal and thigh, and a favorite classic pose. Judging focuses on body aesthetics and posing presentation.
Men’s Physique:
Men’s Physique is a division that emphasizes a more athletic look with less extreme muscularity compared to traditional Bodybuilding. Athletes are judged on conditioning, shape, and overall stage presence. The competition involves a front pose followed by a back pose, with an emphasis on a clean, balanced appearance and athletic conditioning.
Women’s Physique:
Women’s Physique is a division that focuses on muscular symmetry and conditioning, with an emphasis on femininity. Athletes perform four quarter turns and mandatory poses, including the front double bicep, back double bicep, preferred side chest, preferred side tricep, and overhead abdominal and thigh. Judging criteria include stage presence, symmetry, and muscularity.
Bikini:
The Bikini division is designed for female competitors and emphasizes overall shape, conditioning, and presentation. This division requires less muscle mass compared to others, with a focus on balance, femininity, and overall presentation. Competitors are judged on their best bikini front pose and best bikini side rear pose.
Figure:
Figure is a division for women that emphasizes shape, muscularity, and conditioning. Competitors perform quarter turns, and judging focuses on the shoulder-to-waist ratio, leg development, and overall femininity. Athletes with a well-defined V-taper and balanced musculature are often rewarded in this category.
Wellness:
The Wellness division is designed for female competitors who embody a balanced and fit physique with an emphasis on symmetry and proportion. This category celebrates fuller, more developed hips, thighs, and glutes while maintaining a healthy and athletic overall appearance. Competitors are judged on their ability to present a well-rounded package that combines femininity with strength.

“Rocky Mountain Flex was my home gym for the last year! I spent upwards of 20-25 hours a week prepping for my first physique competition here! As a fitness professional and a bodybuilding competitor this gym had everything I needed to THRIVE 🙌🏼 the posing room, the equipment, the natural lighting, the turf, the friendly faces 🤗 I’ve recently moved away from Denver and I miss RMF badly, every day! And there really aren’t many comparable options in the Denver metro area!”

Over the last nine years, we have catered to Denver’s bodybuilding community by supporting our personal trainers who have held posing classes and, with our recent expansion, we’ve created a dual-purpose space where members can confidently practice their posing. While the space is open to all of our members and day pass users, we also offer opportunities for coaches to teach private classes for a fee. If you are a coach interested in hosting posing classes, please reach out to us via our contact page to get more information.
We know how important it is to practice posing when you have an upcoming bodybuilding competition. Our classroom is open to all members when classes aren’t in session.
