But, before we get into the details of the event, we thought it would be fun to go down memory lane to see the history of our complex, The Yard, and just how far RMFLEX has come in the last 10 years.
The History of The Yard in Baker
1879
The property became one of Colorado’s first lumber yards, originally established as Tabor Pierce Lumber Yard by prospector and Colorado Senator Horace Tabor
1893
Tabor lost his fortune in the silver mine crash, and by the mid-1920s, the lumber business went bankrupt
1920s
The Stark family acquired the property as payment for handling the bankruptcy, and it became known as Stark Lumber Yard, serving Denver for over 100 years
1966
Employee Harry Moll Jr. purchased the business from John Stark’s estate
1979-1980s
Anson Garnsey bought the lumber distributor and expanded into hardwood molding manufacturing
2013
The Sherman Agency purchased the property and partnered with Coburn Development and Everett Miller Construction to transform the historic lumberyard into The Yard, a name that honors the property’s industrial past while embracing the creative spirit of the Santa Fe Art District
Late 2014
The Yard began leasing to its first tenants, including what would become Rocky Mountain Flex Fitness and several other businesses
January 2016
Construction at The Yard was completed

The Rocky Mountain Flex Fitness Journey
November 2015
After an extensive buildout that included pouring concrete floors, fully enclosing the once open-air lumberyard with exterior walls, windows, and garage doors, and framing, Rocky Mountain Flex Fitness officially opened our doors with 7,500+ sq. ft. of gym space!
2015-2020
The gym grew steadily over our first five years, building a loyal community of members from all over Denver.
2020-2023
Membership surged as people developed new healthy habits during the pandemic or raced to return to old routines. Managing this growth became our biggest challenge and made it clear we needed more space.
April 2023
We welcomed our new practitioner, Dr. Ryan Smith of The Savvy PT into our newly transformed practitioner office, providing our members with convenient access to physical therapy and injury recovery services.
September 2023
To meet the needs of our growing community, we began our gym expansion into the space next door, formerly a whiskey distillery. Plans included adding a 60-foot turf space for functional fitness, a fully enclosed private classroom for our yoga and HIIT classes, a dedicated cardio room, and an office to make room for an additional practitioner.
October 12, 2023
We unveiled our new Rocky Mountain Flex Fitness logo designed by longtime member Cole Fair.
October 28, 2023
We closed the gym down for a day when staff, trainers, and members showed up to help us bust through the wall to join the two spaces, move equipment, and install more flooring. We had a great turnout of helping hands, just solidifying how great our community is.
October 29, 2023
We opened the newly remodeled side of the gym partially, giving members their first glimpse of the expanded 12,000+ sq. ft. space, provding even more awesome equipment and space for our members.
November 10, 2023
We installed our new metal light-up sign that was crafted by our metalworking neighbors Hardy & Fuller.
November 15, 2023
We completed our new enclosed classroom and opened it for classes and as a posing room.
Late November 2023
We welcomed a new MMA school led by Coach Daniel Chacon, now named Denver Muay Thai & Fitness, located in the upstairs portion of the gym.
November 15, 2025
As we continue to grow our strong community of members, we’re celebrating a decade of strength with our 10 year anniversary party. Also, to celebrate, we are rolling out special anniversary t-shirts for purchase.
