Today, we’re excited to share an interview with Carolina, a Rocky Mountain Flex member whose story is nothing short of inspiring. As a busy working mom of three, Carolina knows what it means to juggle a busy life while staying committed to her goals. Not only has she lost 40 pounds, but she’s also improved her PCOS symptoms, boosted her energy, and gained confidence she never thought possible. In this interview, Carolina talks about what sparked her transformation, the challenges she’s faced, and how consistency and community helped her achieve incredible results.
I’m Carolina, I am a Denver Native, wife, mom of three and event coordinator. I’ve been a RMFLEX member for about 5 years, but after having my youngest baby in February of last year, I hit a turning point and decided to commit to my health like never before!
1. What motivated you to join RMFLEX and start your transformation journey?
Before RMFLEX, I mainly worked out at home because gyms felt intimidating. But I knew achieving my goals meant stepping out of my comfort zone. After years of unhealthy habits and rising health concerns, I committed to change. I started with a 7-day pass and decided to commit to a full membership shortly after.
2. What does your workout program look like?
As a mom of three with a busy work schedule, flexibility is key. I train 4-5 times weekly, though I’ve adapted recently due to a shoulder injury (now focusing more on lower body and cardio while healing). Here’s my current split:
- Monday: Hamstrings
- Tuesday: Upper body (modified for mobility)
- Wednesday: Glutes
- Thursday: Cardio & conditioning
- Friday: Quads
I also aim for 20-30 minutes of cardio and I stay active throughout the day.
3. What specific changes have you noticed in your health and fitness since joining RMFLEX?
My PCOS symptoms have significantly improved with an active lifestyle. Beyond losing 40 pounds, my energy, mood, and confidence soared. This journey also helped me reverse my pre-diabetic risk, which is priceless. I’m also able to keep up with my little ones a lot more now.
4. Were there any particular challenges you faced along the way, and how did you overcome them?
Balancing kids, work, and workouts is tough! Evening sessions are my only option, and sometimes I’m exhausted. But remembering the commitment I made to myself pushes me to show up. Healing my shoulder has also taught me patience – I modify rather than stop. Sometimes I’m only able to get a 45 minute workout in so I maximize every second.
5. How has the support and community at RMFLEX helped you stay motivated?
This community is incredible! I’ve met so many supportive people– whether I need help with a machine or just encouragement, there’s always a member or a trainer willing to lend a helping hand. My husband (also a member) is one of my biggest cheerleaders. Being surrounded by motivated people inspires me daily and pushes me to keep going.
6. Can you share what a day of healthy eating looks like or your favorite healthy snacks/treats that help you stay on track?
Being Mexican, cooking is a huge part of my culture. I cook daily for my family, focusing on fresh, whole foods while giving traditional dishes a healthier twist. The biggest contributor to my fat loss has been eating in a calorie deficit.
My go-to treat: Protein Cheesecake Bowl!
170g plain Greek yogurt + 7 g sugar-free cheesecake Jell-O + 2 tbsp sugar-free Cool Whip (mix well!), topped with crumbled graham cracker and berries. Perfect for sweet cravings!
7. How do you feel your transformation has impacted other areas of your life?
8. What advice would you give to someone who is considering starting their own fitness journey?
Keep going, even when results feel distant. Some days your ‘100%’ will look different – that’s okay. Consistency is your superpower. Show up for yourself, and progress will follow.
9. How do you see your fitness goals evolving in the future, and how will RMFLEX continue to be a part of that journey?
I’m still transforming! My focus right now is on healing my shoulder, while still working towards my goal of body recomposition. I’m so grateful for what my body has achieved in the past year- I am also excited to see how my body evolves moving forward with training. Balancing work, kids, and life is wild, but showing up for myself at the gym changed everything! I feel so fortunate to have such a great support system and to be a part of the RMFLEX’s community!
